Entertaining Books

I just realized I haven't posted a review in quite awhile, and that's probably because I haven't finished a whole lot of books lately.  I guess I'm going through a bit of a reading slump, since most of the time I'd rather do other things than read, which is weird for me. 

So, what I'm looking for from my blog readers is your favorite entertaining read.  I'm not necessarily talking about the best book you ever read.  Those kind are great, but sometimes the "best books" are a little harder to read because they require more thought on the part of the reader.  The qualities of books I'm looking for are:
  1. Does NOT start off slow and get good as it goes along. 
  2. Even pacing throughout.  No really exciting parts and then so boring you could fall asleep parts.  
  3. You finished it and immediately looked for more books by that author.
  4. You pick it up when you're going through a reading slump because it never fails to entertain.
  5. Mindless fun--doesn't require you to think too hard.
I usually read speculative fiction, but I'll go for suggestions of any type of book here.  I'd like to have a nice list of books to turn to when I'm going through reading slumps.  Thanks, readers!

    I sympathize with the reading slump; I fall into those, too. As soon as it starts to stay warm and sunny here, I'll be outside and the reading will fall off for a bit.

    I have two recommendations, both humor mixed with sci-fi and/or fantasy, and a straight-up sci-fi novel from Japan.

    (those were the funny guys)
    The Lord of the Sands of Time by Issui Ogawa

    I just finished reading House at Riverton by Kate Morton. Almost a year ago I read The Forgotten Garden (same author). I enjoyed them both immensely, but I am a historical fiction fan. That might be a stretch for a Sci Fi Fan like yourself...but if you are looking for a change, I can highly recommend these for pure entertainment and Morton's writing is quite lovely.

    I'll keep those in mind. Historical fiction can be hit or miss with me, but when it's good it's a genre I really enjoy.

    2- Anything written by Lois Duncan
    3-The Witches
    4-Chinese Cinderella
    5-The Last Promise by Richard Paul Evans
    6-A Perfect Day by Richard Paul Evans
