The Dystopia Challenge

I've found that I really like dystopian fiction.  There's something about reading just how crappy the world could  be to make you appreciate what you have.  So, here's another challenge I've decided to join.  This one shouldn't be too difficult for me either.  Here are the challenge levels, and I'm trying to decide which level to go with:   

Challenge Levels

1. Asocial–  Choose 5 books to read
2. Contagion – Choose 15 books to read
3. Soldier – Choose 30 books to read
4. Drone – Choose 50 books to read
5. Conditioned – Choose 75 books to read

For extra hard challenges

1. Brainwashed – Choose 76-125 books to read
2. Totalitarian – Choose 126-200 books to read

I don't want to get in over my head, so I think I'll pick the Asocial category, even though that doesn't make me sound very cool.  :)  I'm not sure what I'll read,  but I'll probably decide as I go.  If you'd like to participate, click on the picture at the top of this post and go sign up.  As always, comment here and let me know if you're participating so I can visit and follow your blog.

Speculative Fiction Challenge 2011

I joined a few challenges last year, started strong, and then kind of got worn out by the second half of the year.  So for 2011, I might do a small amount, but I'll make sure they're easy like this speculative fiction challenge.  I would be doing this anyway, even without a challenge.  So, here are the details:

• Timeline: 01 Jan 2011 - 31 Dec 2011

• Rules: To read 12 Speculative Fiction novels in 2011 (12 is the minimum - you can read more if you wish!)

• You don't have to choose your books ahead of time, you can add them as you go. If you do list them upfront, you can change them. Books for this challenge can be used to fulfill other challenges.

Sounds easy enough for me!  One speculative fiction book each month?  I think I can do that.  Let me know if you're joining in on this challenge so I can follow your blog!
