Fall Into Reading

To learn more about the Fall Into Reading Challenge, visit this link at Callapidder Days.

I've tried in the past to do this challenge before, but I don't know if I've ever really followed through.  I think my reading has really suffered lately, though, and I need something to help me get going again.

One of my goals at the beginning of this year was to get through some of the books on my shelves.  I've got two full bookshelves, and I was hoping by the end of the year to clear off at least one of them (to hopefully make room for keeper books).  Sadly, I think I've got more books on my shelves than I did at the start of the year.  This isn't going well.

So, for this challenge, while I will still read a few library books, I'm really going to focus more on reading from my shelves.  And on reading more than I have been, because my reading has been pitiful lately.  So, here's my list of books I want to read between now and December 21st:

  • Orange Mint and Honey by Carleen Brice
  • A Visit From the Goon Squad by Jennifer Egan
  • Divergent by Veronica Roth
FROM THE LIBRARY (trying to get caught up with/finish series)
  • The Final Sacrifice by Patricia Bray
  • Spring Broke by Melody Carlson
  • Three Weddings and a Bar Mitzvah by Melody Carlson
  • Last Dance by Melody Carlson
  • Spring Breakdown by Melody Carlson
  • Inside Threat by Jason Elam and Steve Yohn
  • All These Things I've Done by Gabrielle Zevin
  • The Apothecary by Maile Meloy
  • Antiquitas Lost by Robert Louis Smith
  • Me, Myself, and Paris by Ruth Yunker
  • Dragons of the Valley by Donita K. Paul
  • The Dark City by Catherine Fisher
  • The Rafters by A.C. Montgomery
  • Michael Vey: The Prisoner of Cell 25 by Richard Paul Evans
  • The Paradise Prophecy by Robert Browne
  • Dominance by Will Lavendar
  • Original Sin by Beth McMullen
  • Found by Karen Kingsbury
  • Family by Karen Kingsbury
  • Forever by Karen Kingsbury
  • The Edge of Recall by Kristen Heitzmann
  • The Atonement Child by Francine Rivers
  • Hip to be Square by Hope Lyda
  • Miss Invisible by Laura Jensen Walker
  • The Centurion's Wife by Davis Bunn and Janette Oke
  • Sunrise by Karen Kingsbury
  • Summer by Karen Kingsbury
  • Someday by Karen Kingsbury
  • Sunset by Karen Kingsbury
  • Daughter of Prophecy by Miles Owens
  • Leota's Garden by Francine Rivers
  • Treason by Orson Scott Card
  • Daughter of Elysium by Joan Slonczewski
  • Byzantium by Stephen R. Lawhead
  • The Thief's Gamble by Juliet E. McKenna
  • Alvin Journeyman by Orson Scott Card
  • Heartfire by Orson Scott Card
  • The Crystal City by Orson Scott Card
  • Broken Blade by Ann Marston
  • Shadow of the Giant by Orson Scott Card
  • Newton's Cannon by J. Gregory Keyes
  • Shaman's Crossing by Robin Hobb
  • Girls in Pants by Ann Brashares
  • Ender in Exile by Orson Scott Card
I fully expect that I may not even read half of these, and that I'll probably read a few not on the list, but I'm going to try really hard to read the ones from my shelves.  I need to do this.  Maybe that also means not accepting any new review books (which I'm mostly doing already).  I've got to make a dent in my shelves!  So, here goes nothing!

  1. Have fun reading as many books as you can. Love that this "challenge" is so laid back.

  2. What a great list. I wish you success with it. I found many on your list to be added to my TBR list. Thanks

  3. I can completely relate to your experience of finding more and more unread books on your shelves as the year goes on! I'm intrigued by the Orson Scott Card books on your list. I've only read Ender's Game by him, but I really liked it... Maybe I should try some more. Thanks for being part of Fall Into Reading 2011!

  4. I think the only book on your list that I've already read is Girls in Pants. I'll be interested in your reviews. Happy reading!

  5. ZOINKS! So ambitious! Huzzah! to your list and good luck! :)
